Tomorrow - Off to England :)

Things have been up and down
this week with my Grandpa.

I've struggled with whether to postpone my flight
or to leave as planned.

Changing a flight is expensive,
however money is not really an issue.

He's been in the hospital for a few days,
they're taking really good care of him
and my family is all banding together
to make sure my granny and my dad
and aunts and uncles are doing ok.

At the end of the day
we don't know what's going to happen.
Grandpa could go to heaven tomorrow
or he could start doing better and be around till next January.
We just don't know.

So I'll be up at the hospital today
spending some time with them before
heading to England tomorrow as planned.

It's really hard, because while
you want to be with family for fear
of something happening, you still have
to make good on your plans and just live life.

I wish we knew more, that would make this all a bit easier.
But after talking to my parents we all decided it was best
to go along with the plan and handle the future as it comes.

Thank you all for your love and prayers.
Keep them coming and add me to the list as i head
off tomorrow for this amazing adventure with Tom.

The "Spend as much time together as possible" plan...

It didn't take us long to realize what we had.
Actually I think we both knew, before we even met,
that we had something pretty special.

When you are in loovvvveeee
you want to spend every free second together.

Tom and I haven't been as lucky as others
to be able to spend all that time together.

Instead we got skype.
And thank goodness we did.

As amazing as skype is, our time together put it to shame.
The three weeks this past summer were so amazing
that when it was over it left us in a state of depression.

Three weeks is not a long time, but it was more than enough time
for me to see how much i cared about Tom.

Considering i was already in love with the guy before he got here,
it only took me about a day to get really comfortable with him,
and then the rest of the time was just pure bliss.

But then it was over, and it left us wanting.

While Tom was here we started planning what this next
year might possibly look like.

I was graduating so that meant we could really
play with the free time that i would then have.

That's when the "spend as much time together"
plan was put into effect.

When Tom left the plan was for me to come
over to England for a few months
at the beginning of 2014.
After graduation,
once i was free.

We would be separated for another 6 months
womp womp...

Then Thanksgiving happened :)
We got a week together in between the wait time.

And now we have finally reached
the moment we've been waiting for.

It's finally time, 5 months of Tomily time.

I haven't packed...
remember when i said i was
going to be smart and plan/pack early.
Lolz...

I'm very excited, very very excited.
I'm ready for this adventure to start :)

Thank you all for the kind words for my Grandpa Rex.
He's been moved to the Hospital and we're
just kind of waiting to know more.

Travel plans are still up in the air.

You're all wonderful people!!
Have a great day!!

Up in the Air...

I've never really struggled to find words when it comes to this blog.
But I have a feeling this week will be pretty difficult.

I'm in a weird situation.
On one side i'm bubbling over with excitement
because i get to spend so much time with Tom
over the next few months.

On the other end I've got an amazing man,
my Grandfather Rex, who's not doing well at all.
We're all praying that he comes through
it or is swiftly taken to heaven.

So Thursday's flight is up in the air.
We're playing it by ear.
Seeing what the doctors say
and then we'll make a decision.

I'm still going to England.
For an extended period of time.
Might still be going Thursday,
or it may be next week.

Keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank You!

Dream Job - A Travel Enthusiast

Want to know what my dream job is??

Let's start with a definition of what it entails.
I want to inspire people, to go into the unknown.

I want to help people see the world.

Translation: I want to be a travel agent...

no, no...

I want to be an adventure planner.

I want to be a trip creator.

In my free time i'm looking for travel discounts
to places that i'm not even going to.

Tom and I spend countless hours planning trips
and creating adventures that sometimes
we don't even go on.

And even though we don't go on some of these trips,
it's still so fun to plan them.

So while i'm in England with Tom,
i'll have some free time while he works.
I think i'm going to start doing some research
on potential jobs that are travel oriented.
And then one day I really want
to start up my own business.

I also want confetti to be involved in some way...
I've already got it all planned out in my head ;)

Have a splendid weekend!!

Not all who wander are lost...

Hi, my name is Emily and i'm a part of the millennial generation.
Call me Millennial or Gen-Y, it's up to you.

We aren't baby boomers, so don't treat us like we are.
Because we aren't, not now, not ever.
I'm being quite sassy, i know.
But it needs to be said.

Not that we don't like Baby boomers, i mean they're our parents,
aunts and uncles, teachers and friends.

We love you, but we're not you.
Simple as that.

And we get really offended when treated as such.
We're our own people, and we enjoy that we're different.
We make our decisions differently and we like it that way.

We're adventurous.
We take risks.
We're dreamers.

Just because we wander, more than you would,
(you being a boomer) does not mean that
we're headed down the path of destruction.

When graduating from College we go to England
for five months instead of finding a job.

Ok, so by now you know when i say we, i mean me.
This is not how all millennial's are, but it's how I am, or how I feel.

It wasn't till recently that i realized just how different
our generation is from our parents generation.
And we're even further from our grandparents generation.
And we'll be very different from our own children's generation.
It's just how the world works...

This information is key to understanding why a baby boomer
might be really frustrated with someone in their 20's
for making the crazy decisions that we make.

You see crazy, we see amazing.
You see stupid, we see dreams.
You see a mistake, we see our future.

I've been really emotional lately about my life choices.
I think really hard about them because I'm so picky
about the direction i want my life going.

So chances are, if i make a decision to do something
then that means i've thought it through.

I don't make decisions at the drop of a hat.
In fact something us millennial's are really good at
is planning and preparing.

We don't do things that we haven't looked into,
or found discounts for, or made sure it's
exactly what we want.

We're smart about our crazy decisions.

So in conclusion, we're young souls who love to
go on adventures and have fun and make memories.

We may be crazy but we planned it that way.

We're different, and we like it ;)

Think about us, pray for us,
we love that you care.
Thank you for birthing us
and providing for us,
and making us feel so loved.

Trust that you, as a generation,
raised us well.

We will go on to do some extraordinary things.
And we'll have you to thank for it.

Until then...
We're going on adventures
we're falling in love
we're taking risks,
but safe ones.

At the end of the day
all we're really trying to do
is find our place in this world
that we don't feel belongs to us.
It will be ours one day,
we're just making sure
that when that day comes...
we have a great place to stay.

One Week till five months

14 months ago I would have laughed in your face
if you would have told me that i'd be headed to England
for 5 months right out of College...
Laughed it up...

And yet, here i am.
Funny how life works sometimes.

You really just never know when you're
going to stumble upon someone who just makes
you feel so happy and loved and complete.

It could be today, tomorrow, online, or while out shopping...
you just never know, you could be the next Tomily ;)

I feel as though we've paid our dues,
we've been apart long enough!!

It's time for Tomily to spend some time together,
without the constant killer clock lurking in the background
telling one of us that it's time to go home.

We are serious troopers, we deserve medals,
we waited 7 months before we MET...
we waited another 4 months before we were
reunited this past Thanksgiving.
And we're still going strong.

Thankfully this time we only had to wait 40 days
before i'm headed back over for an extended stay
with Tom and his family.

It is just SO exciting and such a blessing
to be able to go and do this.

I feel like i'm packing for Paris all over again
except this time there is no school work
and it's not Paris ;)

This next week is going to be crazy,
just absolutely nuts!!

I have so much to do, and so little time.
But it will all be worth it when i'm giving Tom
and great big hug in the airport next Friday! :)

eep :) :)

Happy New Year | Hello 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR
How weird is it that it's 2014...and it's even weirder that it's January.

I just know it will take me at least half of the year to remember to
write down 14 instead of 13...
it always does.

I hope you all had wonderful celebrations last night
ringing in the new year with family and friends.

I spent the evening with some good friends/family
there were even infants and toddlers present ;)
We partied pretty hard ;)

Now that it's January 1st i feel like
I need to put to paper (or to blog) some of the
things i hope to accomplish this year.
Resolutions if you must...

res·o·lu·tion
ˌrezəˈlo͞oSHən/
noun
  1.                                              A firm decision to do or not to do something.

1. See Tom more
Like i said yesterday, this one will be easy
since i'm jet setting once again next Thursday
to stay with him and his family till June.
OH and we are going to the Caribbean in August...
Soooo there's that ;)

No more skype nonsense either ;)

2. Lose weight/actually work out
This one's a doozy because most people want this one
but at the end of the year you've gained more than you've lost.
But this year feels different, i've got my workout buddy Tom for 5 months
and we've got a beach to set our sights on in August.
I know we can do this!!

3. Eat healthier
Ok, so my list is basically what everyone
aims for every year...
A better body and diet...
I'm really cliche, i know ;)

I'm going to try to stay away from these pretties...

4. Read more
I really do like reading as much as i complained about it in College.
There is a HUGE difference in reading when it's forced on you
and when you do it for fun.

I'm starting with the book Divergent.
I've heard lots of good things about the books
so i'm excited to get into them.

5. Find a Job
When i get back home, i'll be hitting up the job market.
I'm not entirely excited about this one
but i know it's a necessary one...

I don't think i'm taking on too much.
I like that the first half of my year will be spent in England.
I mean i can't complain about much when that's
how my year is starting out ;)

I have a good feeling about this year.
2014 will be one for the record books!!

Hope you have a wonderful New Year.
